KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Preview: West Jessamine vs. Central

Game 13: West Jessamine (28-8) vs. Central (18-14) 10:00 a.m.

Its championship Saturday at the Sweet Sixteen and two underdogs will be playing in the first semifinal. West Jessamine and Central have both made surprising runs to Saturday morning and will give us a true underdog to cheer for in tonight's championship game.

West Jessamine has arrived in the semifinals by defeating Hazard in the first round and Grayson County in the quarterfinals. The Colts are really making the most out of their first-ever Sweet Sixteen appearance. They are led by Jarrod Polson who averages close to twenty points a game.

Central shocked most everyone, including myself, yesterday by defeating Eastern. Eastern had thumped Central just about a month ago by 23-points, but rebounded in a big way yesterday. Central came into their district tournament with a 12-13 record and now find themselves playing for a chance at the state title game. The Yellowjackets are led by future Kentucky Wildcat football player Ridge Wilson.

My Thoughts: West Jessamine will need to contain Central's speed and athleticism. They will also have to contain Wilson in the paint. For Central, they will have to find a way to stop Polson. I expect this to be a battle as both teams realize that they are playing for all the marbles.

Prediction: Well, both of these teams have proven me wrong several times in this tournament so I hate to pick against either. I'll call this game a toss-up. If I am forced to make a choice, however, I'll go with Central by 1-point.
