The Eagles defeated the top-seeded Skyhawks at the Sommet Center in Nashville to advance to the OVC Tournament Championship game tomorrow night. Morehead (18-15) will play either Murray State or Austin Peay in tomorrow night's final.
Tonight's game was further proof of the old adage that one player cannot defeat a good team by himself. Two-time OVC Player of the Year Lester Hudson led all scorers with 34 points, but he failed to get any supporting help from his teammates in the loss. Kenneth Faried led the Eagles with his 22nd double-double on the season. Faried scored 22 points on 9-14 shooting and hustled for 17 rebounds. Morehead as a team out rebounded the Skyhawks by a margin of 40-27. The Eagles picked up 18 second-chance points on 18 offensive rebounds. Maze Stallworth chipped in 13 points for Morehead.
The championship game will be tomorrow night at 8:00 PM and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
