Nice Game for Shelvin Mack of Butler in NCAA Tournament

NCAA Tournament First Round

The Butler Bulldogs came up just short against the LSU Tigers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. LSU allowed SEC Player of the Year Marcus Thornton to carry them to victory. Thornton exploded for 30 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the Tigers (27-7) managed to hang on.

Butler (26-6) was led by Matt Howard with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Lexington native Shelvin Mack scored 18 points for the Bulldogs.

Mack played his high school basketball at Bryan Station High School. He completed a very successful freshman season in which he averaged 11.7 points, 3.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds a game. Shelvin also shot 32% from the three-point line on the season. He was named to the Horizon Conference's All-Newcomer Team.
