Problems With Kentucky Wildcats: Coaching or Talent?

The Advocate Messenger's Larry Vaught takes a look at the Kentucky Wildcats basketball program and dives into a discussion of what has been going wrong lately. Vaught feels that Kentucky'd administration must decide if what is wrong and make some critical decisions for the program's future. Here is article from Larry Vaught:

Vaught's Views: Coaching or talent? UK administrators must decide what's wrong

I have pulled a few interesting quotes from the article.

Albert Jackson of the Georgia Bulldogs:

"It's not a secret how to beat Kentucky. I think they understand it, too. It's just one of those things they can't do anything about because of the talent they have. They really only have two good players (Patrick Patterson and Jodie Meeks)," said Georgia senior Albert Jackson, a Kentucky native.

"Besides Patterson, the rest of Kentucky's players are not as physical as Gillispie would like or he needs for the style of play he likes. That's why he is out recruiting hard to get people that fit his style of play and can help immediately because they need help inside," Jackson said. "Patterson can't do it all by himself like he has had to do this year. I can see that easily, so I am sure coach Gillispie knows it."

Former Kentucky Player Bobby Perry:

"I think they should have more wins," former player Bobby Perry said after watching the Cats lose to LSU in the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Tampa Friday. "There are games we just gave away. We know for a fact the Georgia game and VMI game, we were better. There were other games where we just got our tails smashed.

"I think we definitely could have a better record, and should have. Everybody would agree with that. The talent is not that bad."

Junior Wildcat forward Ramon Harris:

"The last few weeks have been embarrassing. We have lost games we should have won. We just didn't play very well, or like you would expect Kentucky to play," Harris said.
