Wildcats are Gator Bait: Florida 60 Kentucky 53

Florida 60
Kentucky 53

The Kentucky Wildcats completed another very disappointing game with a road loss to the Florida Gators this afternoon. With the loss, Kentucky (19-12, 8-8 SEC) will be playing in the NIT if they are unable to win the SEC Tournament. The loss drops Kentucky to the #4-seed in the East Division and will pair them with Alabama in the first round of the SEC Tournament. The winner of that game will face LSU.

Florida (22-9, 9-7 SEC) was in total control of the game today and the result never seemed in doubt. Kentucky shot only 2-11 from long distance and had 23 turnovers in the loss. Florida was led by senior Walter Hodge, who had 18 points and 3 steals. Kentucky picked up 16 points and 13 rebounds from Patrick Patterson. Jodie Meeks contributed 15 points for the Wildcats.

Kentucky may break a streak of 17-consecutive seasons with an NCAA Tournament appearance. The SEC Tournament will tip off on Thursday.

My Thoughts: It is a difficult time to be a Kentucky basketball fan. The Cats are showing signs of a team that has many problems behind the scenes. I see no reason to believe the Cats can make any sort of run in the SEC Tournament. This is as disappointing a season as I can remember in Lexington.
