Five-star point guard Eric Bledsoe will visit Memphis tomorrow and then head to Kentucky on Saturday. Dan Wolken of TheMemphisEdge.com believes that we are preparing for a Memphis-Kentucky recruiting battle for Bledsoe. Wolken details the two "very different recruiting pitches" that he will hear this weekend from Josh Pastner and John Calipari.
Wolken thinks that Pastner will sell Bledsoe on being Memphis' No. 1 recruit and coming in to immediately run the point for a top 15 team. Calipari, on the other hand, will sell Bledsoe on coming to Kentucky regardless of what happens with John Wall and that the two will be able to coexist on the same team.
Wolken then states (in font that is several sizes larger):
"Though Calipari would take both players, my belief is that Bledsoe is primarily a backup plan for Kentucky. Bledsoe and Wall are too similar in what they do — they are true point guards but not great shooters - to be on the court together. Calipari will also try to sell Bledsoe on backing up Wall as a freshman, then taking the reins as a sophomore. (Unless he gets Brandon Knight or Kyrie Irving to be his point guard in 2010.)"
He then finishes the article with this:
"While it’s a completely disingenuous recruiting pitch, don’t think it can’t work. Calipari has successfully sold a highly-rated point guard on being a backup for a year to a one-and-done point guard before. Wonder if Bledsoe will talk to Willie Kemp about that this weekend?"
Nice try Dan.
Here is a nice comment from the article's comment's section:

kentucky = douchebag
i should sell cars, anyone know if there are any openings here in lexington?
we are gonna suck next year, once this sorry coach is exposed for being a top notch recruiter with no coaching skills. when he was at memphis the nation hated him, is he supposed to be a different person now?? we should have kept looking for a better x & o's coach that can close out big games.
who wrote this article? this is just sad on KYs part.
I wrote the article. I take no offense to you offering your opinions. Tell me why this is just sad on KYs part.
I personally think the article is spot on. Dan Wolken is obviously trying to make Calipari out as a dishonest person. Most of these posts sound like sour grapes if you ask me. If Calipari is so terrible, why did the Memphis fans want to keep him so badly? Also, I read the Memphis comments on Wolken's board and they are shameful.
Where is Dan Wolken at don't you think this has something too do with this.He is in Memphis what sells papers in Memphis talking good about coach Cal and his recurits that he started recuriting in Memphis before he came too Kentucky I don't think you have too have a PHD. from Kentucky to know that.I don't know about sour grapes but you have Cal and you will form our own thoughts and some fans post commits for your fan to see what is too come we have been their and done that and good luck blue nation and GO TIGERS GO.
Umm.....you obviously must be blind to the UK posts then....they are also shameful. When Calipari was UofM coach KY fans were hateful in their posts about him and the school. It is no secret how Coach Cal talks to recruits, broken promises I think you might call them. That said,,,No one is saying he isn't a good coach,,,they are hurt due to the facts that he knew he was leaving long before he announced it,,but chose to lie to the school, players and fans right up to his announcement and then some not so kosher things going on behind the scenes that have come out. We have some crazy fans and so does Kentucky,,I have seen it and read it,,most fans are not like that,,so don't throw everyone into one pot!
nice try dan???? why, because he stated the obvious things that we memphians know cal will do and you are trying to spin it like it is dan making stuff up. we had cal for nine great years but we know what kind of person he truly is. if he was such a good person he would not have been re-recruiting the players he used memphis money to recruit and not to mention it was after he said he hoped all recruits would stay at memphis. Cal is going to get what he has coming to him, when he has to coach against top level teams night in and night out i know he will fail. his team will go as far as the talent takes him but will not do well if it comes down to his coaching.
Kentucky should have the talent to make it much farther in next years NIT, they have some freshmen coming in to go with the stellar meeks and patterson (both of which already withdrew from the nba draft because they were told they would go undrafted). Does scoring 54pts in a game make you a great player? how many times did he go for 40? 35? 30? Lofton went for 60+ the other night, shooting 17-23 on three pointers in a professional league............. just not the nba. scoring big in one game will not get you to the next level.
Grizzfan, you're an idiot! You're just mad cause Cal left and came to UK. You'd be singing his praises if he were still a Tiger. Get over it!! You're just whining!! It's so obvious.
Oh, Jodie and Patrick have not withdrew from the draft. Patrick is projected as a mid-first rounder and CLIMBING!! Jodie is projected as a second-rounder. I don't know where u get your info from but it's just about as credible as your opinion. Not much at all!
What a joke you are Grizzfan. Take the sour grapes and shove them up the other end.
