A good source has told me that Patrick Patterson and Jodie Meeks will withdraw from the NBA Draft and resume their basketball careers with the Kentucky Wildcats. The source said that both players are unhappy with where they are projected in the draft and feel that a season under Calipari will improve their stock. Additionally, both players believe that Kentucky can have something special next season.
John Calipari seems to think that he'll have both players next season. He posted this yesterday via Twitter:
Patrick Patterson will be unbelievable in this offense. People won't be able to recogize him. Today, Jodie missed three shots in 45 minutes.
Meeks had an All-American season in 2008-09. He averaged 23.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Meeks shot 90.2% from the free throw line and 40.6% from beyond the three-point line.
Patterson scored 17.9 points and pulled down 9.3 rebounds per game for Kentucky last season. He also led the Wildcats with 2.1 blocks per game and was the team's dominate force in the paint.
My Thoughts: My source on this is a good one and I have to believe that both players will be returning to Kentucky. This is great news for Kentucky fans. We are one recruit away from having something really special next season, in my opinion.

This would be great...Top ten team for sure
I agree. I hope my guy is correct because bringing those two back makes Kentucky a great team next season!
Great news, Patterson will have a monster year with Orton and Cousins down low with him. If Wall commits we have final four expectations
Now if we can add Wall to the mix...
Why would he NOT want in on this?
If this is true, and Wall joins in the mix -- UK will be the team to beat next year.
Post additional comments at Dynasty Defenders, but for this blog Patterson and meeks will make UK a Final 4 contender if we ink John Wall.
I dont think we need WALL to get to the final four. Liggins and Galloway will do a great job. A lot of the players have talked about how them to have been playing in the DDM O. Two players said Liggins is not the same player and he should start with Galloway getting a lot of PT too. Both look great and that is coming from teammates.
I think with a good PG we will be a good bet for a deep tourney run. I would not want to put all that pressure on the kids to say Final Four but a deeper than the recent forays into the tourney.
Enough already with Wall's! I am not sure this team even needs him. We sure don't need another Rondo. No disrespect to Mr. Rondo, but I am not much on one and done players!
The young man has a name, it is one name feller, Wall, not Walls! I sure wood like to see hem sign and play fer Ky, he'll give us a shot at the next championchip fer sure! I dont realy mind if the youngens are one and dun as yall say, it helps build and market the Ky name - if ye want to play in the NBA, go to Ky...thank about that fer a minit!
i agree liggins and Galloway, will be enough to compete for a final four, or even a championship, with the return of meeks and Patterson. we'll be just fine alone with the new guys go cats
Your source might be good and I know there is not much to talk about right now but how in the world would they know what these kids are thinking? The pre-draft boards are run by analysts giving their opinion. Neither has been to one try out so they do not know exactly where they stand in the draft. I think this one is still "up in the air" until June.
My source talks to these kids on a daily basis and has a very good idea of what they will do. Unless something changes drastically, I think both players will be at Kentucky next season.
All I'm saying is-at this point these kids don't even know what they are doing so how could your "source" know. He knows what they are saying as of "today" and that is it.
These things can (and often do) change, but I think the players are saying off the record that they will be back at Kentucky. I would be shocked if Meeks changed his mind and stayed in the draft. I wouldn't be shocked at Patterson, but I would be very surprised.
All i can say is UK is back on the map. I see final fours and national titles in the very near future
