Some Kentucky Wildcat Notes

There is an abundance of news and rumors involving Kentucky basketball today:

Recruiting News:

- As reported earlier, DeMarcus Cousins has committed to Kentucky; Cousins is a top 3 player nationally and adding him is huge

- DeShawn Painter has de-committed at Florida and Kentucky was on his original list - he is a 4-star 6'9" Center

- Xavier Henry has officially been released from Memphis and submitted his paperwork to Kansas and Kentucky - he is a top 5 national recruit, as well

- Solomon Hill has de-committed from USC and Kentucky was also on his list previously - he is Rivals #28; a 4-star, 6'6" Forward

- Eric Bledsoe has trimmed his list to Kentucky, Cincinnati, Alabama and Florida - he is Rivals #67; 4-star PG

- John Wall is Rivals #1 player and he has Kentucky on his final list - Wall is a 6'4" PG

Current Team News:

- Michael Porter will not play next season; he has decided to graduate and focus on his family

- Patrick Patterson will likely join Meeks in taking a look at the NBA Draft

- I saw several 2009-10 pre-season top 25 predictions yesterday and UK was in the top 20 on all of them

- Former Kentucky assistant Glynn Cyprien told Larry Vaught that Matt Pilgrim, who transferred from Hampton and will be eligible next season, would be a top 25 player if he were coming out of high school right now. He states, "Pilgrim is a beast."

Rumor Mill (nothing more, nothing less):

- One walk-on will likely opt to leave and play for one of Kentucky's NAIA schools

- One regular player will likely announce his transfer soon
