Centre Colonels Announce Five Committments

Centre College has announced Josh Crawford, Bryon Ellis, Matt Griggs, Mitch Shover, and Spencer Wright have committed to attend Centre in the fall of 2009 and will join the men’s basketball program for the 2009-2010 season.

- Josh Crawford (Corbin High School) was a five year starter and 13th Region Player of the Year. He led Corbin to a 29-4 record and the 13th Region title, where he was named the tournament’s MVP. For his efforts, Josh was named 2nd team All-State by both the Louisville Courier Journal and the Lexington Herald Leader. Josh was invited to try-out for the Kentucky All Star Team.

- Bryon Ellis (Russell County High School), KABC 4th Region Player of the Year, is coming off a career in which he scored 1,468 career points and hit 250 career three point shots. During his senior season, he led his team in points per game, three point percentage, assists, and steals. Bryon was chosen as Honorable Mention All-State and was invited to try-out for the Kentucky All Star Team.

- Matt Griggs (Cincinnati Indian Hill High School) was a three year starter and named First Team All-CHL his senior season. He helped lead Indian Hill to a school record 21 wins, a CHL title, and 5th in the final Ohio State AP poll. Matt was Honorable Mention All-City and picked to play in the East/West All Star Game.

- Mitch Shover (Covington Catholic High School) was rated as the 4th best player in Northern Kentucky by area coaches coming into his senior season. As a junior he led his team to a regional runner-up finish while averaging 15 points and 3 assists per game. Mitch missed almost all of his senior year due to illness.

- Spencer Wright (Cincinnati Country Day) comes to Centre after a four year career at CCD. He was an All-Miami Valley Conference selection as well as a member of the All-Southwest Ohio District 16 (Division IV) team. Spencer will also play football at Centre, after playing tight end at CCD.
