Eastern's Chris Dowe Signs with Bellarmine

Chris Dowe, a 6-3 guard from Eastern High School in Louisville, has signed and submitted his National Letter of Intent to play for the Knights. The reigning Seventh Region Player of the Year becomes the first recruit of the year for Coach Davenport, whose team was 26-7 and made it to the NCAA's Sweet 16 this year.

"We're extremely excited to have a player of Chris's caliber join our basketball family," said Davenport. "He's a great all-around player with a balanced game, and he comes from a class program at Eastern. He's also a great match with our current players, and that's what building a team is all about," Davenport added.

Dowe averaged 14.2 points and 4.9 rebounds a game this year for the Eastern Eagles to make the Courier-Journal All-State Team among a host of other honors. He should also already have a great feel for Knights Hall, as Eastern went 7-0 on the Bellarmine hardwood this year winning won both the seventh region championship and the Louisville Invitational Tournament held at Bellarmine.

Dowe chose Bellarmine over several schools, including Fairfield, Southern Illinois, Western Carolina and Eastern Kentucky.
