Eric Bledsoe will announce Wednesday that he will play his college basketball for either the Memphis Tigers or the Kentucky Wildcats. Bledsoe, a five-star point guard that is #23 on the Rivals150 List, visited Memphis late last week and Lexington over the weekend. His high school coach has stated that the decision has already been made and Bledsoe knows where he is going.
So, Kentucky's Big Blue Nation is anxiously awaiting 11:00 AM or so Wednesday morning when Bledsoe announces his intentions. For the record, I think the news will break "unofficially" before the end of the day tomorrow, which often happens in these situations.
What is my opinion?
My gut instinct wants to tell me that he will be a Tiger, but if I were betting, my money would be on the Wildcats. Several sources have stated that Bledsoe has desired to play for Kentucky for several weeks now, but did not particularly enjoy playing "second fiddle" to John Wall. I think John Calipari has sold him on being a Wildcat regardless of what Wall decides and I also believe that Calipari has made Bledsoe feel "wanted" during the past two weeks.
I think Eric Bledsoe will be a Kentucky Wildcat.

The bigger issue may be whether or not Bledsoe will be qualified academically to play at either school in the fall. I have heard that he will have a chance if he makes successful academic progress during summer school, but it is definitely not a lock at this point.

How does this effect John Wall's status with UK?
If your gut says Memphis and your $$$ says Kentucky, then I would double wrap your money so it doesn’t break open* before delivery this time. Just a suggestion from a Tiger fan. Woooooooooooooooooooo! Go Tigers!!!
PS: * Reference to Emery AirExpress letter sent to the home of Chris Mills. It seems apparent that a package from the University of Kentucky basketball offices to Claude Mills, father of Chris, contained approximately $1000 in cash when it was delivered in Los Angeles on March 30, 1988. The Emery Express Letter broke out to reveal the contents. SHOULD HAVE USED FEDEX.
Sorry, this was to easy a setup!
Lame, Tiger fan. Lame.
I would rather see Bledsoe at UK than Wall. As far as I know, Bledsoe hasn't announced that he is a "one and done". We're talking about the difference between the number one and number three rated point guards in the country, and in my mind, that's not a lot of difference. Bledsoe could turn out to be far more effective than Wall in the DDMO. So why alienate a good point guard by making him feel like "plan B"?
Look, Wall may be the secound coming for all I Know, but he won't be around loing enough for it to matter, I like Bledsoe, his energy is awsome and he seems to have a drive to win, come to UK baby and hang some new banners, play aginst the best, IU, NC, Ucon, UofL,LSU, Tenn, Memphis dosent play anyone good until its too late, sory tiger fans but if your team had been more battle tested you might have won a title under Calipari
Sorry man, it was lame. :( But I have to laugh about something. Shucks our coach leaves us and then tries to wrestle ever recruit away from us that was both signed and unsigned. Heck, while some of the old coaches families remain here to attend final years of HS. Most all of them didn't want to leave. You see John was family to us. But we also saw his flaws yet only whispered them among each other. Like the first home game, we discovered that he wasn't a great floor coach, yet he's improved in that area. But just wait till you see how hardheaded he is about not playing a zone. Man, it drove me nuts in the NCAA Tourney against Missouri. I'm still scraping stuff off the TV from that embarassment. Missouri didn't have better players. Cal got out coached. Wait and see what I mean. However he is a great recruiter, great spinner(should be in politics), and great promoter. But Kentucky better have far superior talent because he's not going to out coach many in the SEC. PS: Buy some Windex now for your TV or have better self-control than me.
Miller just signed a former signed Xavier recruit at Arizona. Looks like Cal isn't the only one that knows the players usually pick the coach.
Jack
Yeah that's what it was! We weren't battle tested. It couldn't have been that our knucklehead coach down played the importance of free throw shooting. Or it couldn't have been that we didn't foul on the last play. And you better hope you don't get in a game of any importance where your getting beat in the paint. B/c you might as well hang it up. Cal won't play zone; even if it means sacrificing championships.
Ask Michigan State, Texas and UCLA if we were battle tested.
Good luck with your new recruiter!
Three tuff games in a season, wow, and for a bunch of nay sayers bout old Cal, all a sudden, man I understand the feeling Rick left UK high and dry for the Celtics, then returned to UL, Try that one on, but I never got salty towards rick still love the man, U guys are salty, salty, those players did'nt want to play at memphis, they wanted the coach, tuff bis, fact still remains that if memphis would have seen talented teams game in and game out they would have killed mizzou, not battle tested, and thats for sure!!
i love how these tiger fans loved coach cal when he was at memphis, but now that he's gone he can't coach. ive been watching college basketball for 20 years, and back at umass when he wasn't recruiting the best he was still one hell of a coach. i remember in 96 uk had one of the best teams ive ever seen, and uk fans were afraid of caliparis umass team. they beat uk at the beginning of the season, and uk was fortunate enough to get an early jump on them and hold off their comeback in the final four and beat them when it mattered most. calipari has always been a great college coach, and over the years he's only become a better coach and a better recruiter. calipari leaving memphis sucks for memphis fans, we know all about it at uk. pitino only came back to coach uk's in state rival, but most uk fans still love and respect pitino for what he did for uk basketball. i know i do. as far as the missouri game, i think cal said it best when he said they beat us at our own game. try to think of the last team you saw put up 100 points on that memphis defense. you can play a zone that sags in the paint to help with getting beat off the dribble, but you sacrifice getting beat with open jumpers and second chances, still no zone is gonna help all those transition baskets missouri had. theres nothing wrong with switching up your looks on offense or defense, or making adjustments, but they need to play to your teams strengths and/or your opponents weaknesses. im still trying to remember the last team to score 100 on memphis, and i have no problems with cal's defense. when your teams offense is designed to beat people off the dribble break down defenses and drawl fouls, your gonna spend some time at the line. i think calipari knows that. im sure he said some things out of frustration, but id b frustrated too if my team couldn't shoot freethrows. tiger fans should find hope in their new coach. i like pastner alot, and i think he'll keep memphis at the top of cusa and get them in the tournament, and once you get there anything can happen.
Long blog dude, totaly agree, with last two Cats fans, wildcats that is
some real jealous people out ther
