Two Campbellsville Players Are NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The Campbellsville University men's basketball team had two student-athletes named to the 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award list.

Hristo Petkov, a senior forward from Botevgrad, Bulgaria, and Jordan Benock, a junior guard from Battletown, Ky., earned the honor for their outstanding academic performance.

Petkov graduated in May with a 3.740 grade point average, earning a bachelor of science degree in marketing with a sports management minor. Benock maintained a 3.595 grade point average in exercise science/sports medicine.

In order to be a recipient of the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, one must fulfill these requirements: the recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year of attendance; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution; and has been certified as eligible.
