Happy Osborne Makes Final Cut for West Florida Job

Georgetown College head coach Happy Osborne has made the final four list of candidates for the University of West Florida head coaching position.

The other three finalists are:

- Jim Boone, head coach, Tusculum College (Tenn.).

- Bob Stinnett, former head coach, Pensacola High/Pensacola Junior College/Washington High.

- Greg Zimmerman, head coach, Alderson-Broaddus College (W.Va.).

In The Pensacola News Journal, UWF athletic director Dave Scott praised the committee for its diligence and selection of worthy candidates.

"You're looking at Jim Boone, who's approaching 400 wins. You're looking at Happy Osborne, who has been (at Georgetown College) for 29 years and 13 as a head coach," Scott said. "Then you have Bob Stinnett, who has a long history and career in the Pensacola area."

"And then you take a guy like Greg Zimmerman from a small school in West Virginia, and he has a 78 percent winning percentage.

"So this is a group of accomplished guys, and their experience showed through in their interviews."
