Western Kentucky hosted Leslee Smith and Brandon Peters, three very talented 2010 players from the Houston area, over the weekend.
I talked to recruiting guru Jim Hicks, who runs RCSSports.com in Houston, this morning about each player and he describes them as two of the top 5 players in the city of Houston. He strongly feels that if Western could land both players, that it would be the best duo the Hilltoppers have ever landed outside of Kentucky. Here is some information that Hicks gave me on each player:
- Leslee Smith is a 6'8" power forward that plays for Christian Life. The visit to WKU was his first official visit. Hicks calls smith a 4-guy with a good body and nice touch. He has an excellent mid-range jumper. He is a good rebounder and a tough post player. Smith picked up an official offer from Southern California this summer.
- Brandon "Snap" Peters (pictured) is a 6'1" combo guard that plays for Yates High School. Hicks had no hesitation in describing Peters as "the biggest athlete in the state of Texas." He says Peters has a 44-45" vertical and literally "jumps out of the gym."
Hicks feels that Western would be getting a steal if they were to land one or both of these Houston stars.

Kene Anyibgo, a third Houston-area recruit, was also schedule to visit WKU this weekend, but I have been unable to confirm if he made the visit. Anyibgo is a 6'5 wing from Bellaire High School. He is ranked #13 in the city of Houston and will be making a visit to Memphis this coming weekend.
UPDATE: Anyibgo says the report from Hicks was inaccurate about a Memphis visit but he confirms that he did visit WKU.
Here is a YouTube video of Peters showing off his athleticism:
