Excerpt of article from FIBA.com:
Heat power forward Joel Anthony, who played for Canada at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament last year and this summer at the FIBA Americas Championship, has spoken to fellow Heat player and Toronto native Jamal Magloire, a.k.a. ‘Big Cat’, about representing the country for the first time since he was 18 years old.
The 31-year-old Magloire appears willing to put on the Canada shirt.
"Representing my country is an honor and a privilege and it's something I've entertained," Magloire said.
"I'm looking forward to more dialogue with Canada Basketball."
Rautins, who expects to have San Antonio big man and former Raptor Matt Bonner in the line-up as a naturalized Canadian (Bonner owns a home in Toronto and is married to a Canadian), would appear to have a more formidable frontcourt if Magloire did commit to playing in Turkey.
"If we get him, he makes us significantly bigger, stronger and tougher," Rautins said to the Toronto Sun.
"I'd love to have him. But it's a no-pressure situation for him.
"I think he's at a point in his life, in his career, where he'd be a great asset maturity-wise for our team, because we're so young.
"Jamaal is very eloquent and he's got a lot of experience he can offer."
