Jeff Goodman On Kenneth Faried and Shelvin Mack

I spoke briefly to Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com this morning. I asked him to give me his comments on Shelvin Mack and Kenneth Faried.

Mack, who plays for Butler University, is a Lexington native that played high school basketball at Bryan Station High School. His career is off to a great start at Butler and I expect him to have a big season in 2009-10.

Goodman says, "Shelvin Mack was certainly a steal for Butler. While Gordon Hayward and Matt Howard get most of the time, the quiet, unassuming Mack just knows how to score. He's a big, strong guard who many high-major programs missed on when he came out of high school in Kentucky. He's quick enough to get to the basket and is strong enough to absorb contact and finish."

Kenneth Faried, a junior at Morehead State, is the preseason OVC Player of the Year and is projected to be an unstoppable force in the paint for the Eagles. He was amongst the top three nationally in rebounding average all of last season and he has put on about 20 pounds of muscle this off-season. Goodman thinks he has NBA potential.

"Faried is certainly a kid that can play at the next level. He's one of the most underrated frontcourt guys in the country and he proved it last season. He is very active on the glass and plays hard all the time," says Goodman.
