Kentucky Wildcats Arrive in Cancun, Mexico

Kentucky head coach John Calipari sent a message via Twitter earlier that the Wildcats have arrived in Cancun, Mexico for the continuation of the Cancun Challenge Tournament. The team will be staying at the Moon Palace Resort.

Here is Calipari's message:

UKCoachCalipari All checked in. Will practice in an hour or so. The place seats about 1300 fans and I hear Kentucky fans will be close to half of them.

UK's Cancun Challenge Schedule:

Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. - vs. Cleveland State
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. - vs. Virginia/Stanford

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Kentucky achieved most of their goals for this year with the glaring exception of a national title, and even though that's really the only one most of the Big Blue Nation really remember, I think this team will go down in history as the one that brought Kentucky back from the dark place where they had wandered for years to the light of national prominence. http://www.cruise360.net

The 2008-09 Kentucky Wildcats finished the season with a 22-14 record, their fourth disappointing season in a row. For the first time in 17 seasons the Wildcats missed the NCAA tournament. Kentucky's troubles over the past few years has meant the seemingly insurmountable lead in all-time wins has steadily eroded in the face of strong runs by both the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Kansas Jayhawks. To add insult to injury, the race to be the first to hit the 2000 victory milestone will likely come down to the wire part-way through the 2009-10 season, due to Kentucky squandering what once was a commanding lead.

Thanks
