Campbellsville University senior forward Nestor Colmenares is the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The Caracas, Venezuela, native, earned the conference's first weekly award of the season after averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds in a pair of wins over ranked opponents.
Colmenares scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Tigers (5-1) 57-50 win at No. 11-ranked Union University. He followed with a 25-point, 14-rebound performance in a 90-80 overtime win over No. 18-ranked Freed-Hardeman University to conclude the week.
Colmenares added three assists and six steals during the two-game week. He shot 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the field.
On the season, Colmenares leads the Tigers in scoring (16.5 points per game) and rebounding (10.5).
CU (5-1) travels to Shawnee State University on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
