I was just told by someone that I consider to be a reliable source that a top 25 recruit in the 2010 Class will be announcing his college decision soon. He said that Kentucky is definitely in the mix and an announcement could come within the next week.
I know the name but I do not want to start an unverified Internet rumor without knowing more on the situation. That being said, there are 5 uncommitted top 25 recruits in the 2010 Class (per Rivals.com):
1. Brandon Knight ***** G 6-3/185
Notes: Official list of offers includes Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, Miami (FL) and Syracuse; He was thought to be down to Connecticut, Kansas and Kentucky but apparently Florida made a really good impression on Knight during his recent visit to Gainesville
My Thoughts: I feel that UK is still in the mix for Knight, but I don't see him announcing anything until Spring
4. Josh Selby ***** G 6-2/183
Notes: He decommitted from Tennessee and re-opened his recruitment; his list of offers includes Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, Miami (FL) and Syracuse
My Thoughts: I think UK is still firmly in the mix for Selby, as well; In reality, Kentucky's chances may be a little higher for Selby than they are for Knight
7. Cory Joseph ***** G 6-3/180
Notes: Kentucky has not offered Joseph to my knowledge; Rivals lists his offers as Connecticut, Minnesota, Texas, UNLV and Villanova
My Thoughts: It's not impossible, but I would be shocked if Joseph ends up at Kentucky
13. Terrence Jones ***** F 6-8/220
Notes: Jones is a very talented forward that has offers from California, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA and Washington
My Thoughts: Kentucky has recruited Jones pretty hard, but UK is also the only school east of the Mississippi on his list; I think they have a shot at Jones, but my gut feeling is that he stays out west
14. C.J. Leslie ***** F 6-8/205
Notes: Leslie is a very talented forward that has offers from a host of schools including Kentucky, Florida, N.C. State, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Connecticut.
My Thoughts: I have stated all along that I think Leslie ends up in Lexington, but some feel N.C. State has made a hard push for him lately; I still think he ends up as a Wildcat, but I'm not sure he's ready to commit at this point
21. Doron Lamb ***** G 6-4/175
Notes: Lamb is a scoring machine at legendary Oak Hill Academy; he holds offers from a highly regard list that includes Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma
My Thoughts: I like Kentucky's chances of landing Lamb, as well; he has visited UCONN, KU, UK and OU and may visit Arizona; many think that it may come down to UCONN/UK in the end; it has been rumored that he would be working with his family during the Thanksgiving holiday to decide his future
Stay tuned...more to come soon.
