Wall-to-Wall Action for Kentucky Wildcats at Freedom Hall

The Kentucky Wildcats took control of the game early and rolled to an impressive 94-57 in the neutral confines of Louisville's Freedom Hall. The Cats are now 7-0, a record they have not enjoyed since the 2003-04 season.

Kentucky, which dominated the game in basically every statistical category, was led by DeMarcus Cousins with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow freshman John Wall dominated Asheville for 12 points, 14 assists, 4 rebounds and 6 steals. Patrick Patterson added 17 points and 9 rebounds and freshman Darnell Dodson contributed 15 points.

Sean Smith scored 19 points and was the only Bulldog in double figures for the game.

The Wildcats shot well on the Freedom Hall rims, going 36-59 (52.2%) from the field. Kentucky was also an impressive 8-18 (44.4%) from long range.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday when they host the North Carolina Tar Heels.

NOTES:

- John Calipari seems to have settled for the time being on a solid 8-man rotation of Patterson, Cousins, Miller, Bledsoe, Wall, Harris, Dodson and Orton; those 8 players combined for 181 of the 200 total minutes tonight
- DeAndre Liggins did not play tonight; All other Cats played
- Darnell Dodson played 20 minutes tonight; he was 6-10 FG, 3-5 3PT and scored 15 points
- John Wall's 14 assists were one shy of Travis Ford's UK record
- DeMarcus Cousins scored 24 points in only 17 minutes of action; most impressive for Cousins - he was 8-11 from the free throw line
- Darius Miller tied a career high with 3 made 3-pointers
- Wall and Bledsoe (the starting guards) combined for 19 points, 19 assists, 9 steals, 6 rebounds and only 3 turnovers
- As a team, UK had 28 assists, 12 steals and only 8 turnovers
