A fierce second half comeback fell short for the Louisville Cardinals (4-1) as they lost to UNLV 76-71.
Louisville found themselves down 53-34 with 14:05 remaining in the game but mounted a ferocious comeback. The Cardinals tied the game 62-62 at the 5:22 mark, but was unable to retake the lead. The score was close for several minutes, but UNLV (5-0) was able to pull it out for the homecourt victory.
The Rebels were led by Oscar Bellfield with 17 points and 4 assists. Tre'Von Willis added 16 points and a game high 9 assists. Former University of Kentucky guard Derrick Jasper added 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for UNLV.
Louisville picked up 18 points from senior guard Edgar Sosa and 13 points from big man Samardo Samuels. Rakeem Buckles added a double-double off the bench with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cardinals return to action Wednesday when they host Stetson.

By the way, Tre'von Willis is a former Tiger player that got fed up with Calipari and left the team when Cal didn't renew his scholarship. Enjoy Cal Kentucky fans, you've got a scumbag for a coach!
