Louisville Cardinals Are Fighting Injuries

When the Louisville Cardinals host Charlotte Saturday, they will be forced to play without three key players.

Preston Knowles (thumb injury) and Peyton Siva (sprained wrist) were already scheduled to miss the game. Now, the Cardinals will also be without senior guard Jerry Smith, who suffered a strained Achilles' tendon in practice.

Knowles and Smith are both starters and Siva is a key contributor off the bench for head coach Rick Pitino. Sophomore George Goode will likely get his first career start in place of Smith.

Rick Pitino's comments from Courier-Journal.com:

“You’re going to see a lot of interesting lineups to say the least,” Pitino said. “We’re going to have to rely a lot on (walk-on guard) Chris Brickley. Having two starters and our first sub out depletes our backcourt, so we’re going to have to be smart in this game.”
