The New Jersey Nets would like to see a change in Terrence Williams' game, both on - and off - the court. Here is an article from HoopsNotes.com about New Jersey's message to the former Louisville Cardinal:
Once Terrence Williams returns to the lineup – maybe Friday night against the Pacers – the Nets not only expect him to change his attitude and actions off the court, they’d like to see him alter his game, as well.
“What we’d like Terrence to do is take it to the basket,” interim coach and GM Kiki Vandeweghe said by phone yesterday. “He has huge athleticism, both on the defensive end and offensive end. He can be a very, very effective defender, and he can be effective on the offensive end also. He’s a very good ball-handler, a very good passer and he’s athletic enough to get by his guy and take it to the basket. And those are the things we’re looking for out of him.”
Earlier this week, Williams defiantly said that he would keep hoisting up jumpers despite a terrible shooting slump, missing 33 of his last 44 shots. Williams said that approach got him drafted, so why change?
“They’re not guarding me so I’m not going to keep dribbling the ball into people,” the rookie said on Monday after going 0-for-5 and playing just 9:24 in a loss to the Knicks the day before. “If everybody’s in the lane and my man’s off of me, I’m going to shoot the ball.”
