UK Basketball in New York; DeAndre Liggins in Lexington

UK guard DeAndre Liggins is not in New York with his Wildcat teammates.

Liggins, who has not played this year under John Calipari, was not at Kentucky's shootaround and sources say Liggins did not make the trip when the Wildcats face Connecticut Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Liggins played in 33 games last year under Billy Gillispie, starting one game. Liggins averaged 4.2 points a game last year.

My thoughts:

I look at this as one of three things, but there has been (nor should there be) any explanation from Kentucky head coach John Calipari.

1. End of the semester and Liggins will no longer be a Kentucky Wildcats
2. He has been punished all semester and this is the final piece of punishment
3. This is finals week and there's no reason for him to be in NYC if he is benched anyways; he is working hard to make good grades

I lean more towards 2 and 3 and I expect to see Liggins back with the team - and playing - soon.

Haha, I agree. I think he will be back soon, but I have no inside info on that or anything - just a feeling.

I would have kicked him off the team last year when he told Coach he woudl not go in a game. The kid has a personal problem.

With the energy and momentum growing, all I can assume is that he will certainly want to get back on the court as quickly as possible now more than ever. I see him playing in the Long Beach State Game.

Christmas break he is gone. If he has that bad an attitude, he wont stay around.

Dodson was on the bench, look how fast he shaped up.

Where has hood been? Hasn't got a minute of playing time last few games. Now he is in the dog house.
