John Templon of ChicagoNow.com feels that the family of Anthony Davis and the University of Kentucky are now in "quite a spot" with the Chicago Sun-Times.
Here is an excerpt of Templon's thoughts:
First of all, the Davises have put themselves in quite the spot. They now have to come forward with the lawsuit, one that could be potentially damaging to their son's eligibility if the Sun-Times is able to come forward with the evidence their reports suggest they have. Also, Kentucky has also put itself in quite a spot by saying that it will support the Davises as they fight the lawsuit.
Running with a story once with one source, as O'Brien did with the first article he published and the $200,000 figure, is one thing, but having three sources that independently corroborate reports of requests for payments is a whole different matter. If in the course of discovery for the trial the information comes out, it's going to give us a whole new view about what really happens during a college recruitment.

My Thoughts: I have to think that the Davis family would not be willing to file a lawsuit if they are indeed guilty of asking for money from various schools.

I personally think the three so-called sources are the persons who are in "quite a spot." If a court case is filed, those three sources will be made public and will certainly have some explaining to do.

You say that you think that the Davis family wouldn't file a law suit if they were guilty? What do you expect them to do? IF they are guilty do you expect them to admit it? LOL IF they are guilty there best hope is that by filing a lawsuit will scare the management of the SUN-Times into backing off and killing the story, but just because they are filing a law suit does not mean they are guilty, Im sure the sun times has alot less to hide then UK does.
its not a true story. neither was the Eric Bledsoe thing. neither were the 2 players who went pro and 2 current players on UKs roster dealing with agents true (no names were given). UK doesn't need to pay recruits. they became the 1st school to put 5 players in the first round. They get top talent at each position every year under cal because he sends players to the NBA.
this story will be forgotten in a month just like the bledsoe story.
no one cares
UK doesnt pay for recruits LOL WOW, if you believe that you are as blind as the typical UK Idiot fan, its ok keep thinking the big blue is so innocent lol
I think they need to be looking at that nation of blue sight and see who there source was, and maybe into that high school kid that covers sports up there and see what they know.
Cal doesn't send players to the NBA. Players play their way into the NBA underneath Calipari.
^ the most ignorant comment I've ever read. Talk about denial... I hope your a UL fan, because it must be great to know that Rick pitino has only had 3 players drafted in his 9 years at uofl. Cal at UK ( in his 1st year ) had 5 players drafted and all were in the first round. And do u have proof UK plays players? Haha no I didn't think so. It's this idea in your head that makes you believe UK does. When UL wins a title outside of the 1980s, come talk to me. Hahahaha
This "lawsuit" is frivolous at best. Be careful what you wish for Daddy.
wow, all these UK comments on here, and bashing of UL is so lame...especially considering that I'm not a UL fan.
Must be real shocking to hear really talented players get drafted...especially when they would have when they came out of high school.
What's lame is the fact you say these allocations are true when you don't have facts. You're as pathetic as anyone else who bad mouths a school or player because they play under a certain coach.
lol. First off, it's allegations, not allocations. Learn how to spell you ignorant blowhard.
You're last sentence is hypocritical because UK fans hated Memphis for the fact that Coach Cal was there.
Secondly, how do YOU know it isn't true? Because some UK bloggers said so? Don't believe everything you read.
P.S. This is only the second time I posted in this thread. You're barking up the wrong true, dude.
My phone changes it to allocations automatically and I'm too lazy to change it (kinda like how you meant to say wrong tree instead of wrong "true"). UK fans didn't Hate let alone care about Memphis when cal was there. UK never played them so there was no reason to hate them. And you're right, YOU SHOULDNT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ. I don't believe what a UK blog says, I believe articles that give out REAL sources. Barking up a wrong tree?? Why would anyone be afraid of someone over the internet? This is the UK fan btw who backed u up saying I can't wait to watch memphis this year because of there great players that are similar to UKs style of players... FYI
GAY
hahahaha
Reporters do not reveal their sources. They go to jail for contempt of court before they reveal their sources. I'd say the paper may have to pay up, then fire the reporter.
Nobody really knows what the final analysis will be with this whole mess, but one thing seems certain to me... IF O'Brien had any real proof (other than a few angry, jealous people) that UK actually paid the Davis family $200,000 to play for UK, this would have been the headline, not an afterthought. It is that little piece of info alone that tells me that the whole story is, at best, not founded well enough to be reported.
Not even a Memphis fan, man. LOL. UK fans are funny.
