
Former Georgetown College guard Jamel Ferguson hopes to find a professional basketball home overseas soon.

He is a seminar course away from complete his college degree in communications. It’s a journey that has seen Ferguson land at multiple schools starting with him transferring from St. John’s Prep to Murry Bergtraum after his sophomore season. He then went on to play three seasons at Manhattan College where he averaged just three points a games in limited minutes over three season. Last year Ferguson averaged 4.3 points per contest playing for Georgetown College a NAIA school in Kentucky. The Tigers went 27-6 last season.
“I just wanted a change so I could focus,” he said. “I was too close to home. I wasn’t as focused as I could have been.”
Following graduation, Ferguson’s focus will turn overseas. He said he has already got some interest from a few agents and hopes to start a career. Ferguson is a regular on the streetball circuit playing at Dyckman, Hoops in the Sun, EBC at Rucker and Tri-State. He enjoys the energetic atmosphere, especially at his home court at Dyckman. Ferguson is looking to add a pullup jumper to his game, though shooting itself has never been a problem.
