The Buzz on Kentucky Basketball: Bellarmine Advances Edition

A Twitter message from LeBron James:

KingJames Best of luck to Kentucky, Ohio St and Akron in the tourney! #letsgetit

Today's Top 5:

- Kentucky's schedule for the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament was announced.

- I went after the NCAA Selection Committee again. This time, I ranted about their apparent unwritten rule that in-state schools from Kentucky must play each other in the NCAA Tournament.

- Kentucky's Terrence Jones and Brandon Knight were named to the USBWA Freshman All-America Team.

- Forbes calls John Calipari the most overpaid coach in college basketball. I disagree, but here's their argument.

- Former Kentucky big man Randolph Morris is a CBA All-Star in China

On Wednesday, Get Ready For:

- The NAIA Division I Tournament. The action starts early with Pikeville College vs. Oklahoma Baptist at 10:00 a.m. ET. St. Catharine College will play Lindenwood at 5:30 p.m. ET. Previews coming earlier in the day.

- Tickets to go on sale for Kentucky's NCAA Tournament session. Tickets will be available at the box office on Wednesday morning.

- The PNC/KHSAA Boys Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament. Wednesday's games (in order): George Rogers Clark vs. Oldham County, Warren Central vs. Eastern, Christian County vs. Shelby Valley and Lexington Catholic vs. Dixie Heights.

- More NCAA Tournament action as Texas-San Antonio plays Alabama State for a 16-seed and VCU battles USC for an 11-seed.

Recruiting News:

- TheShiver.com reported earlier on Twitter that Kansas offered JUCO transfer Stan Simpson. Simpson has been receiving interest from Kentucky.

- Austin Rivers won the coveted Morgan Wootten Player of the Year Award. Other finalists included Kentucky signees Anthony Davis and Michael Gilchrist.

- Kentucky recruit God'sgift Achiuwa will be in action at 11:00 a.m. ET Wednesday in the NJCAA DII National Tournament.

- Kentucky recruit Trevor Lacey is listed on the roster for the Next All-American Classic All-Star Game. If he plays in the event, he will not be eligible for the Kentucky Derby Festival Classic.

- DeAndre Daniels added Duke to his list and is no longer considering Kentucky.

The Buzz:

- Bellarmine University defeated Ferris State 85-66 to advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament Elite 8. The Knights seemingly caught a break as 6-seed Midwestern St. defeated 1-seed Central Oklahoma tonight. Bellarmine will meet Midwestern State on March 23.

- Missouri State defeated Murray State 89-76 in the National Invitation Tournament.

- Clemson hammered UAB 70-52 tonight, proving for the entire nation that the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee blew it. Something tells me that Colorado, Virginia Tech or Alabama would have offered a more enticing game.

- Sign the petition to get Gus Johnson to call the NCAA Tournament championship game.

- Kentucky's Doron Lamb was spotted in a walking boot today. It isn't thought to be serious, but is something to keep an eye on as we lead up to Thursday.
