Buzz on Kentucky Basketball: Hickey is Mr. Basketball Edition


Tuesday's Top 5:

- Christian County's Anthony Hickey was named Kentucky Mr. Basketball.

- Oddsmakers at Bodog.com seem to think there is a really good chance that both Terrence Jones and Brandon Knight will enter the NBA Draft. The deadline to declare comes in the last week of April.

- Kentucky and Louisville recruits are already aware of the rivalry they are about to enter in the Bluegrass state.

- John Calipari has openly asked for fans to give his team and staff some space during the Final Four. He says it's a "business trip" and there will be time for fun after it's over.

- Kentucky's media tour continued today: Calipari was on with Jim Rome; Brandon Knight was on with Dan Patrick

- The McDonald's All-American Game at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN

Recruiting News:

- La Salle transfer Aaric Murray lists Kentucky as one of his potential destinations.

- Speaking of Anthony Hickey, his recruitment has blown up since his outstanding performance at the Sweet Sixteen. He now has offers from Western Kentucky, Mississippi State, Nebraska, LSU, TCU, Cincinnati, FIU, Southern Illinois, Wright State, Murray State, Marshall and a host of others.

- Jordan Myers is transferring from Southern Illinois. He has talked to several schools including Bellarmine, Indianapolis, Vincennes and some NAIA schools.

- Desean Peterson has left Holmes and enrolled at Dixie Heights. He is primarily a football star but also played key minutes on the basketball court.

- Billy Gillispie is wasting no time - 7 days after his hiring, he has added Jaron Nash and Kader Tapsoba from Tyler Junior College.

The Buzz:

- Alabama defeated Colorado 62-61 in the NIT semifinals; they'll face Wichita State for the championship on Thursday night.

- Former Louisville guard Jerry Smith has signed with the Waikato Pistons in New Zealand. The Pistons play in New Zealand's top-level National Basketball League.

- Illinois State will play a road game at Morehead State in 2011-12.
