Game recap by UC:

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College's Carlos Sanford came off the bench and poured in a team-high 27 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 93-79 upset win over Bluefield (Va.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Robsion Arena.

With the win, UC improved to 5-18 overall, 2-7 in the AAC, while Bluefield fell to 14-10, 7-2 in the AAC with the loss.

In the first half, Bluefield came out and looked like the best team in the AAC, racing out to an early 14-8 lead with 13 minutes and change left in the period. The Bulldogs, however, went on a 10-0 run over the next couple of minutes to take an 18-14 lead with 11 minutes left.

Once Union got the lead, they never let Bluefield get it back the rest of the period, as the Bulldogs extended the lead out to 10 points (39-29) with three minutes left after an Ian Davis (Cherry Hill, N.J.) lay-in. Bluefield, however, did not go into the half quietly, as an Andrew Wilson three-pointer at the buzzer cut the UC lead down to 41-38 at intermission.
