Mayo Says DeMarcus Cousins "Has Mental Issues" After Altercation

Dallas Mavericks star O.J. Mayo and Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins had an altercation in last night's game that resulted in double technical fouls.

After the game, Mayo didn't hold back his displeasure for Cousins.

Here is more from Dallasnews.com:

“Man, that guy has mental issues,” Mayo said. “He’s a talented player. He has an opportunity to be the face of the organization, but I don’t think he wants it.”

Mayo said he asked the referees to review the incident on videotape during halftime. Mayo said he has little doubt it’s a fine-able or suspendable offense.

“Big maturity problem,” Mayo said of Cousins. “Hopefully he’ll grow out of it and become great. He definitely has the talent.”

During the third quarter, as Sacramento made a charge that closed the gap to 77-66, Carlisle barked something at Cousins.

“I really like him as a player _ and I was expressing that to him,” Carlisle deadpanned after the game.

Here is the look at the incident, which Cousins described as unintentional:

I am a big fan of DeMarcus but I totally agree with Mayo.

This is the 3rd time this season this knuckle head has issues during the game and post game. Talented but his mouth and actions will get him in more trouble. Once again he is involved in something negative. Good Pr for the team, team leader????

He's an idiot...always has been. Such a waste. He's more likely to end up in jail than he is the all-star team.

the guy is talented, but a complete idiot. I know UK fans are going to try to defend him, but at some point you have to take off you're blue glasses. The guy is a headcase, always has been, always will be

I am a UK FAN but I agree, he is a total nut case. Nothing but trouble. His actions will get him in trouble more'

UK knew he was like that. They just ignored it in the name of wins. Yeah, he's a nut job. It has nothing to do with maturity. If OJ Mayo can spot it, it MUST be bad!
