Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Gives Back to Youth Basketball League

Former Kentucky star Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is in the giving spirit this holiday season. Kidd-Gilchrist donated 150 Jordan Brand T-shirt jerseys and 150 backpacks to Sterling Elementary Basketball league in Somerdale, New Jersey.

Kidd-Gilchrist grew up in the area and decided to give back to the league, which has been struggling financially.

Here is more from Philly.com:

Kidd-Gilchrist, 19, targeted Sterling Elementary Basketball, a league made up of the elementary schools - Magnolia, Somerdale Park, Hi-Nella and Laurel Springs - that feed Sterling High School.

Through his parents, Vincent and Cindy Richardson, Kidd-Gilchrist donated 150 gray Jordan Brand T-shirt jerseys Tuesday night to players at Somerdale Park. He also donated 150 backpacks.

"Giving back is just something that has always been instilled and ingrained in him," Cindy Richardson said of Kidd-Gilchrist, who played in the league.
