Faried began asking Karl questions. Here is an excerpt from

Faried: So coach, how do you feel about Kenneth Faried?

Karl: I do like Kenneth Faried, I'm anxious to see how much improvement he makes this year.

Faried: What about Ty Lawson, being a leader of the team this year?

Karl: He's a little bit like Faried — he goofs off a little too much for me.

After Faried asked several more questions, Karl ended with: "I'm too old for this."

Goodin, a 6-foot-2 freshman, is one of the state's top players in the class of 2016.

"He's very fast and athletic," one scout says of Goodin. "The kid has a ton of upside."

Harrison Twins: Evan Daniels, Jerry Meyer Predict Kentucky

Evan Daniels of has made his official prediction on the Harrison twins' upcoming decision.

Daniels, one of the most respected analysts in the recruiting game, predicts that Andrew and Aaron Harrison will pick Kentucky.

Jerry Meyer of also feels the twins will end up wearing blue and white. Here is an excerpt of his thoughts:

Regardless, the prevalent assumption is that the twins favor Kentucky. Aaron and Andrew are not lacking in confidence and they crave the enormous stage and bright spotlight that Kentucky can provide. They have been thinking NBA since they hit the national AAU scene prior to even being in high school. John Calipari has built a program that is custom built to satisfy these desires.

But then perhaps the twins would like to make their mark at Maryland and spark a resurgence in the proud basketball program there. It certainly isn't a challenge that they would be afraid of taking on.

In the end this will be remembered as one of the epic recruiting battles of recent time. Everyone is uncertain what the pick will be and certain that it was a nip and tuck battle.

All along I've felt Kentucky was the team to beat in this recruitment. I haven't been persuaded yet to feel differently. With the announcement being moved up ahead of the twins potential visit to Maryland for Midnight Madness, I lean even a little more towards Kentucky.

Prisbell on Harrison Twins: Grab a Coin and Flip It

Eric Prisbell of USA Today says he's spoken to a coach who believes the Harrison twins' decision may go the other way now (meaning Maryland).

Unfortunately, Liggins is likely competing against for UK teammate Daniel Orton for one of the final spots on the 2012-13 roster. recently talked to Liggins about Oklahoma City and  his relationship with Orton.

Here is an excerpt of the interview:

How did you end up getting a tryout with the Thunder?

“Orlando decided not to bring me back. OKC called my agent and said they liked me, liked the way I played and they were going to bring me down here and work me out. I worked out for a week. Two weeks later, I came back and I've been here since.”

What do you think the Thunder likes most about you?

“My defense mostly. That's why I'm in the league, because of my defense. I'm trying to become an improved jumper-shooter and a better ball-handler.”

You've been teammates with center Daniel Orton at Kentucky and Orlando and now you're together in OKC.

“Yeah, I go somewhere, I see Daniel Orton (laughing). Everywhere I go, Daniel Orton is right there with me. In the NBA, you never know what happens. It's just fallen that way. I'm happy for Daniel. I'm happy to be here with Daniel. End of the day, we're trying to compete for a job.”

UPIKE Offers Knott Central's Camron Justice and Evan Hall

The University of Pikeville was at Knott County Central yesterday to watch sophomores Camron Justice, Evan Hall and Simon Christon.

I'm told by a good source that UPIKE offered scholarships to Justice and Hall after the workout.

Justice, a 6-foot-2 guard, is one of the state's brightest 2015 prospects.

Hall is a 6-foot-5 forward with a big upside as his game continues to mature.

Christon is a 6-foot-3 forward (see below):

Where Will the Harrison Twins Go?

Today is the day that 2013 star Andrew and Aaron Harrison announce their college choices.

Evan Daniels of Scout spoke to a source yesterday who said: "To be honest I believe they have gone back and forth 10 times this week on it."

Cat's Illustrated reportedly spoke to a source last night who said the Harrison twins have already made their decision and will announce for Kentucky today at 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Here's a look at the dynamite duo in action:

Adam Zagoria spoke to Sonny Vaccaro about the decision. Here is an excerpt of his thoughts:

“If they pick Kentucky it’s a logical move because since [head coach] John [Calipari]‘s been at Kentucky the kids have done well,” Vaccaro told from his California home. “His teams have won a national championship. It’s a logical move.

“The surprise would be if they didn’t pick Kentucky. Kentucky almost has to win [the battle for the twins]– no matter what the gain is — to show that they’re not losing it.”

John Calipari Makes Recruiting Stop in Massachusetts

Kentucky head coach John Calipari stopped by Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Massachusetts earlier today.

Calipari was checking out 2014 big man Goodluck Okonoboh and 2015 recruit Luis Monteiro.

Here is more from

University of Kentucky’s John Calipari, coach of the reigning national champion, was on campus Wednesday morning with a particular interest in junior Goodluck Okonoboh and sophomore Luis Monteiro.

Okonoboh is a 6-foot-9, 215-pound center who played last season for national power Tilton (N.H.) School. Okonoboh played in a frontcourt alongside Nerlens Noel, now a freshman at Kentucky. Monteiro, a newcomer, is a 6-foot-7 point guard from the Dominican Republic.

And Calipari hasn’t been the only high-profile coach or program on campus this fall.

“When schools like Stanford, Columbia and Harvard come in ... they are as big of a deal to us as a Kentucky,’’ WMA coach Chris Sparks said. “Calipari brings something, for sure, especially as national champions.’’

Harrison Twins: How Much of an Impact Will Under Armour Have?

Eric Prisbell of USA Today has written an interesting article about the recruitment of 2013 star Andrew and Aaron Harrison, who will announce their college decisions tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Prisbell feels that Under Armour could play a key role in the Harrisons' final decision.

Maryland, of course, is an Under Armour school. Kentucky, on the other hand, is sponsored by Nike.

Here is an excerpt of the article:

Harrison Sr., said that until September even the college coaches courting his sons had to go through dad first. One exception: Chris Hightower, in charge of basketball marketing at Under Armour.

"He is my saving grace that there are some upright, straight, humane people in the basketball business," Harrison Sr. said. "He is the one guy who can call Aaron and Andrew.

"They text him, 'Hey, Chris, appreciate what you sent us, thanks a lot. Hey, Chris, do you have a black hoodie? Does Under Armour make this or that?' He will text them, 'Great game I saw on TV.' "

Under Armour sponsors Maryland's basketball team as well as the AAU team for which Harrison coaches and his sons play. And if the connection between Hightower and Maryland was not clear enough, Hightower uses an image of the Under Armour-designed Maryland football uniforms for his Twitter picture.

Here are some additional comments from Harrison Sr.:

"Me being in the used-car business, and I will let you know this, the basketball business, is 25 times worse than the used-car business," he said. "It is not even close. It blows my mind what people try to do or that people think it's OK and they'll tell you things and you fall for.

"I'll be frank with you, there are college coaches who are just as involved in this thing as any AAU guy. I am more of a father than an AAU guy. I am not a handler. I don't own any kids. . . . At some point they will become their own men."

Andrew and Aaron Harrison will announce their decisions tomorrow on ESPNU at 5:00 p.m. ET. Their top two schools are thought to be Kentucky and Maryland.

Elisha Justice Goes Home to Pikeville, Becomes an Old Regular Baptist Preacher

In all the time I've spent covering college basketball, I'm not sure I've ever covered a story as special as that of former Louisville point guard Elisha Justice.

Justice, who won Kentucky Mr. Basketball at Shelby Valley High School, played two seasons for the Louisville Cardinals. As a sophomore, Justice averaged 2.4 points and 1.1. assists for the Cardinals. He then decided to end his time at Louisville and head back home to the University of Pikeville.

After coming back home, Justice answered the call to become an Old Regular Baptist preacher. You read that correctly, Elisha Justice spends his Sundays preaching at the Pilgrim's Prayer Church in Dorton, Kentucky.

Even though he is yet to make his University of Pikeville playing debut, Elisha  has already touched the heart of head coach Kelly Wells.

"He's the type of person who makes you better in all areas of life and basketball," Wells said over the weekend. "The kind of person you pray your son turns out to resemble."

After listening to Justice preach the Word, it's hard to argue with Wells.

Ray's younger brother, Ruben, is also expected to leave East Ridge, according to the source.

Kasongo currently holds offers or major interest from the likes of DePaul, UCLA, USC, N.C. State and Arizona. He has also heard from many other division I programs.
