Final from Nashville, Tennessee
Game recap by MSU:
NASHVILLE -- The Belmont men’s basketball team recorded 55 first-half points en route to a 93-74 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Morehead State on Thursday evening at Curb Event Center.
The Bruins improve to 18-4 overall, 9-0 in league action and 9-0 at home with their ninth consecutive win, while the Eagles slip to 11-12 on the campaign, 5-4 in conference play and 3-9 on the road.
“This one is hard to explain,” Head Coach Sean Woods said. “Belmont is the best team in our league right now and you have to give them a lot of credit, but I’m disappointed with how we played tonight.”
Belmont, which has won at least 20 contests in seven of the last nine years, improves to 2-0 in the all-time series. The Bruins have also won 16 straight affairs and 37 of their last 38 at home.
Belmont canned 54 percent (14-of-26) from the floor and 89 percent (23-of-26) from the free-throw line before the break. The Bruins also forced 15 first-half turnovers on their way to 18 points.

A Sean Woods team cant close out a big victory yet again, shocking.
Take a look at the attached stat sheet link & you'll see why.
Some positive comments first:
1.) MSU out-rebounds by 8.
2.) We shoot 53% on 3s, and combined 46% for the game.
3.) Of our 23 baskets made for the gme, 16 of them are assisted, an outstanding 69.6%, so we were finding the open man and getting him the ball.
Usually if a team does all of the above, they'll win...big. Instead, we lost...big.
Comments below may help explain why:
1.) Shot only 61% from the line and were outscored by 16 at foul stripe.
2.) Committed 24 turnovers. Enough said.
3.) Committed 31 fouls (see Item 1.)
4.) Strange lineup combinations and sustitutions (sorry but this one goes on the coach). Some examples: the two highest scorers on the team played a total of 10 minutes. Milton Chavis, whom Coach Woods proclaimed the "most athletic player in the OVC, and maybe the whole country" played only 2 minutes. Angelo Warner, who actually is the best player, played only 8 minutes. ???
Other personnel issues: Bruce Reed played 33 minutes (had been avgeraging 10).
Most of this you can see for yourself on the stat link and decide for yourself.
5.) A lot of Belmont shots were WIDE OPEN. They also made several easy baskets right after timeouts, while MSU usually turned the ball over or ran some play that had no chance. In other words, we got outcoached...badly. Belmont's good, but they're not 20 points better than MSU. Something's wrong.

To quote Curtis Gates: "Aint but one thing, bad coachin', Bad coachin'".
Curtis sounds like a pretty smart fellow...
Yeah in this instance that quote fit perfect. For those who may not know, that quote came from "Hoop Dreams", Curtis was William Gates brother. Excellent movie.
