Kentucky Wesleyan Adds 7-foot Center Alex Brown for 2013-14

Kentucky Wesleyan College has officially announced the addition of 7-foot center Alex Brown to the 2013-14 men's basketball roster.

Brown played last season for San Jose State, where he averaged 4.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as a junior.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (August 29+, 2013) — San Jose State center Alex Brown has transferred to eight-time NCAA Division II Champion Kentucky Wesleyan College for his final year of eligibility, according to new KWC head men's basketball coach Happy Osborne.

Brown, a 7-foot, 189-pound from Mt. Vernon, Ill. (Herrin High School), led the Spartan in blocks with 49 while averaging 4.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 21.6 minutes in starting 21 of 26 games as a junior in 2012-13.

He played his freshman and sophomore seasons at John A. Logan (Jr.) College where he averaged 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 23 starts in 2011-12.

Quentin Snider Adds Michigan State Offer; Cuts Indiana, Memphis

Quentin Snider has added an offer from Michigan State in recent days. The 6-foot-1 point guard at Ballard High School has also apparently cut Indiana and Memphis off his final list.

EvanDanielsFOX Quentin Snider has narrowed his list of schools to Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Connecticut & USC.

EvanDanielsFOX Noticeably missing from Quentin Snider's list is Indiana. He leaves for UCLA for an official visit Friday morning.

Snider currently ranks No. 31 overall on the list for 2014.


James Blackmon, Jr. to Visit Kentucky, Louisville This Week

James Blackmon, Jr., who recently de-committed from Indiana University, is going to take three unofficial visits this weekend.

Blackmon, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, currently ranks No. 33 overall on the list for 2014.

He posted on Twitter that he will visit Kentucky today, Louisville tomorrow and Michigan Saturday.

Former WKU PG Tyrone Brazelton is Headed to Lithuania

Former Western Kentucky University point guard Tyrone Brazelton has signed with Nevezis Kedainiai in Lithuania's top-level LKL league.

Brazelton has been well-traveled during his professional career. He has made stops in the NBA D-League, Germany, Ukraine and Iran.

Nevezis Kedainiai (LKL) added to their roster 27-year old American point guard Tyrone Brazelton (185-103kg-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Higher Vision Sports). Brazelton managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. He played last season at Petrochimi in Iranian Superleague. He also played at BC Odessa (Superleague) in Ukraine that season. In 24 games he recorded 12.5ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.8apg and 1.5spg. The other team Brazelton played that season for was Nuernberger Basketball Club (ProA) in German league. In 9 games he averaged impressive 18.9ppg, 4.2rpg, 4.9apg and 1.4spg.

The previous (11-12) season he played at Erie Bay Hawks in D-League. In 23 games he averaged 8.4ppg, 2.1rpg, 4.7apg and 1.2spg.

In 2010-11 season Brazelton was tested by Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (BBL) in German league. In 12 games he averaged 5.3ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.6apg.

In 2009-10 season he played at Energa Czarni (TBL) in Polish league. In 21 games he averaged 13.4ppg, 2.6rpg, 4.8apg (top 5) and 1.1spg.

UK Announces Plans for 2013 John Calipari Coaches' Clinic

The University of Kentucky has announced the plans for the upcoming 2013 John Calipari Coaches' Clinic. The clinic will be held October 26 at the Joe Craft Center.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s basketball program has announced the date for the 2013 John Calipari Coaches’ Clinic.

This year’s Coaches Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm EST at the Joe Craft Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The day-long event, intended for male and female coaches, gives a unique look into the coaching philosophies and strategies that Coach Calipari uses in guiding the 8 time NCAA National Champion Kentucky Wildcats Men’s basketball program. Included in this unique clinic will be a chance to tour the Joe Craft Center and the New Wildcat Coal Lodge with staff members available to answer questions.

Attendees will be given exclusive access to watch Coach Cal conduct two practice sessions with the 2013-14 Wildcats and be given opportunities to ask questions of Coach Cal and his staff.

Check-in for the coaches’ clinic will be from 7:30 - 9:00am in the lobby of the Joe Craft Center on Oct. 26. Cost of the clinic is $75 for advance registration and $100 for walk-up registration.

Parking will be available ONLY in the E lot located directly in front of the Joe Craft Center.
Attendees MUST park in a legal parking spot in the E lots only (Parking in R lots is NOT permitted).

Please note that recruitable age participants (males or females currently in the 7th-12th grade, junior college, or prep school) are NOT permitted to register for or attend the clinic.

UK Spokesman: James Young, Harrison Twins Enrolled in Classes at UK

Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal has confirmed with a University of Kentucky spokesman that freshmen James Young, Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison have officially enrolled in classes at UK for the fall semester.

KyleTucker_CJ Per UK spokesman, all returning basketball players and all signees, to include James Young and the Harrison twins, are enrolled for fall.

Former 4-Star PG Noah Cottrill to Play at Georgetown College

Former West Virginia University signee Noah Cottrill will be joining the Georgetown College men's basketball program for the upcoming season.

Cottrill, a talented 6-foot-4 point guard, averaged 12.9 points last season at West Virginia Wesleyan. He originally signed at West Virginia as a four-star prospect by in 2010. He never played at WVU and eventually ended up at Wesleyan.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Cottrill, who played at Poca, Mountain State Academy and Logan as a prep basketball star, signed with West Virginia University as part of the 2010 recruiting class. He was rated a four-star prospect and top 100 overall player nationally by that year.

Former UK Star Wayne Turner Takes a Job on Rick Pitino's Staff at Louisville

Former University of Kentucky basketball star Wayne Turner has joined Rick Pitino's coaching staff at the University of Louisville.

Turner, who played for Pitino at Kentucky, will be a program assistant for the Cards.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Wayne Turner, who was a member of two collegiate national championship teams and played nine years in professional basketball, has joined the University of Louisville men's basketball staff as a program assistant.   "Wayne has decided to get into the coaching ranks," said UofL head coach Rick Pitino. "He'll be living with our players in Billy Minardi Hall this year, mentoring them off the court. There's no better person to do that as he played in three straight Final Fours and won two national championships."   His primary duties with the Cardinals include assisting in opponent scouting through extensive video breakdowns, game preparation and assisting in on-campus recruting efforts.   Turner played two of his four seasons at the University of Kentucky under Pitino when the Wildcats won the 1996 NCAA Championship and reached the championship game in 1997. He was a backcourt starter on Kentucky's 1998 NCAA title team and finished his career as the NCAA's all-time leader in games played with 151, a figure which has since been passed.   Turner worked on the UK men's basketball staff in 2010-11 while completing his undergraduate degree. He is Kentucky's career leader is steals (238), ranks fourth in career assists (494) and he scored 1,170 career points with the Wildcats. He was an All-SEC selection as a senior and was honored as the 1998 NCAA Regional Most Outstanding Player and SEC Tournament MVP that year.
A native of Boston, Turner played nine years of professional basketball, including a year with the Boston Celtics (1999-2000), the Harlem Globetrotters (2000) and seven years with multiple CBA and European teams. He has worked in player development the last two years.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men's basketball program has announced the date and times for the 2013 Women's Clinic.

The 5th Annual John Calipari Women’s Clinic is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13, from 6-9:00pm EST at the Joe Craft Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky. This unique clinic is designed for women with all levels of basketball knowledge and experience, and offers an exclusive inside look at the University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball Program. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to become the first in your household to get a look at the 2013-14 Wildcats.

Check-in for the Women's Clinic will be from 4:00 - 6:00pm Sunday Oct. 13th at the Lexington Avenue entrance of the Joe Craft Center (UK Ticket Office). Throughout the designated check-in time, attendees will enjoy refreshments and a self-guided tour of the Joe Craft Center featuring Men’s Basketball staff members stationed throughout the facility for demonstrations and questions.

Bellarmine Signs North Hardin's Tyler Landry for 2013-14

Bellarmine University has signed 6-foot-7 center Tyler Landry from North Hardin High School for the 2013-14 men's basketball season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Bellarmine University Men's Basketball Coach Scott Davenport has announced the addition of a recruit for the 2013-14 season with the signing of 6-7 center Tyler Landry out of North Hardin High School.

"Tyler has tremendous room to grow as a player," Davenport said. "He has a super family, played for one of the most legendary coaches in all of Kentucky in Ron Bevars, and his assistant high school coach Gary Valentine also does a great job. Tyler won't turn 18 until October 3rd.  Our entire staff is thrilled with his potential to grow and develop because of his dedication and tremendous work ethic!"

At 6-7 and 223-pounds, the lefty was a solid shot blocker and made 60 percent of his field goal attempts last season while averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds a game last season for the Trojans. "He is a good prospect," said Bevars. "Tyler is sort of a late bloomer and has grown about five or six inches since his freshman year. He's great to coach; he has a great attitude and good work ethic."

Xavier Rathan-Mayes Rules Ineligible to Play in 2013-14 at Florida State

Former Huntington Prep star Xavier Rathan-Mayes, a consensus top-50 recruit, has been ruled ineligible to play at Florida State this season.

Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton told reporters this afternoon that Rathan-Mayes did not get through the NCAA Clearinghouse.

According to, Rathan-Mayes' problems stem from his year at Christian Faith Center Academy (N.C.):

Sources tell that the NCAA did not accept a full year of credits he took at a high school in North Carolina. Rathan-Mayes previously attended Christian Faith Center Academy (N.C.). Florida State is continuing to work with the NCAA to get the issue resolved.

Murray State Unveils 2013-14 Men's Basketball Schedule

The Murray State Racers have unveiled a challenging 2013-14 men's basketball schedule.

Murray State men's basketball announced the 2013-14 schedule which includes an attractive home schedule of 15 games at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
The Racers' home slate includes non-conference matchups against Middle Tennessee, Evansville, Lipscomb and Southern Illinois. The Racers will seek their 24th Ohio Valley Conference championship when they open the league season at home (Jan. 2) against Southeast Missouri and (Jan. 4) against UT Martin.

The Racers will be tested with a tough schedule that sees them face six squads that were ranked last season in the top-100 of the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). MSU will be mixing it up with eight teams that saw post-season play last season including five that played in the NCAA Tournament.

The fun begins with an exhibition game (Nov. 2) against Freed-Hardeman before MSU travels to Valparaiso (Nov. 8) for their first road season opener since playing at California in 2009.

MSU's home opener is against Brescia (Nov. 12).

WKU Adds John Hardin's Brandon Price to 2013-14 Roster

Western Kentucky men's basketball has added freshman Brandon Price to the 2013-14 roster as a walk-on.
Price was a second-team all-state player at John Hardin High School last season.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU men's basketball has added freshman Brandon Price, a second-team all-state player as a senior in high school, to its 2013-14 roster, head coach Ray Harper announced Monday.
Price, a 5-9 guard from Radcliff, Ky., will be a walk-on this season. He lettered four years at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, and he was a starter for three seasons. Price helped the Bulldogs reach the quarterfinals of the state tournament as a senior in 2012-13, and he was named second-team all-state after averaging 17.9 points per game while also contributing 6.5 assists per contest.
