Kentucky Wesleyan Adds Washington Transfer Hikeem Stewart

Kentucky Wesleyan College has picked up Hikeem Stewart, a transfer from the University of Washington.

Here is a release from KWC:

OWENSBORO, Ky. (Jan. 16, 2014) — University of Washington guard Hikeem Stewart will transfer to Kentucky Wesleyan College for the second semester where he will play his senior season in 2014-15, according to KWC head men’s basketball coach Happy Osborne.

Stewart, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of Seattle, Wash. (Rainer Beach HS), saw limited action as a junior with the Huskies where he played in five games before Christmas. In three seasons at UW, he played in 38 games and averaged nearly one point, one rebound and eight minutes.

“We are fortunate to add a quality student-athlete like Hikeem to our team,” Osborne said. “He does a lot of things very well due to his versatility and athletic ability at both ends of the court.

“Hikeem will play both the point and shooting guard positions. He passes the ball with precision and scores from anywhere. His defensive abilities create tremendous havoc for the opponent.”

Stewart as a senior was a three-star prospect and ranked by Scout.com’s the No. 36 shooting guard in the nation at Rainer Beach in 2011 where he led the Vikings in scoring with 20.1 points and earning All-Metro recognition.

Osborne added, “What I really like about Hikeem, besides his basketball talent, is his outstanding personality, leadership qualities and his classroom assets. That only comes from great parents and family.”

He is the son of Andrew and Lisa Stewart of Seattle, Wash.
