Georgetown College Destroys Ohio State-Newark

Georgetown College 131
Ohio State-Newark 60

Final from Georgetown, Kentucky

Game recap by GC:

Five double-figure scorers, three double-digit rebounds and two double-doubles not a bad stat line for just game two for Georgetown College men's basketball.

The No. 8 Tigers (2-0) started on a 12-0 run and never let up against visiting Ohio State-Newark. The Titans briefly got the game back to single digits with a 5-0 run of their own, but Georgetown put a halt to that in a stream roll win 131-60.

Georgetown snagged 75 rebounds – second most in school history for a single-game and most in a game since 2007. The Titans shoot a chilly 26 percent from the field, while the Tigers blistered the nets at 52.3 percent.

Noah Cottrill dropped 29 points to lead all scorers and also dished out eight assists. Deondre McWhorter tallied his second double-double with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Gerard Coleman chipped in 27 points. Corey Washburn had 18 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. Darion Burns scored in the double-digits for the first time in the Orange & Black with 12 points off the bench, while EJ Sandoval added 12 rebounds with his seven points.

The Tigers return to action 1 pm Saturday hosting NCAA Division II Salem International.
