Georgetown College Opens Season with Win Over Miami-Middletown

Georgetown College men's basketball opened the season Monday night. At times it was not the prettiest, but in the end the Tigers (1-0) put it together for a 90-72 win. Miami University Middletown made a run in the first nine minutes of the second half to pull within one. Then Noah Cottrill and Deondre McWhorter fueled Georgetown's 29-12 run to finish the game.

The junior tandem scored 24 of the final points. Cottrill finished with a game-tying high 24 points and Gerard Coleman made his GC debut with 23 points. The senior did most of his scoring in the first 20 minutes with 17 at the break.

McWhorter finished the lone double-double of the game, 19 points and 14 rebounds. Corey Washburn also tallied double figures for Georgetown with 10 points. EJ Sandoval came off the bench with six rebounds.

Cooper Nolte led Middletown with 24 points, going five-of-six from three-point range.

Georgetown returns to action 7 pm Wednesday hosting Ohio State-Newark.
