Asbury Blasts Marygrove College in Opener

Asbury University 77
Marygrove College 53

Final from Cincinnati, Ohio

Game recap by AU:

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Kyle Lamb wasted no time getting his team off on the right foot. His 20 points before half time sent the Eagles into the locker room with a comfortable lead by the same number, 45-25.

"We really came out focused and ready to go," head coach Will Shouse said after the game. "I was pleased with the effort."

The Eagles could not have been in any better position headed into the half in the first game of the season. 45 points in their favor and holding the opponent to less than 30 is an ideal spot to be in for any team, in any game, albeit the first of the season. The big first half ultimately set the Eagles up to cruise to the 77-53 win in the end.

Lamb finished the game with 22 points total, cooling off a bit after the opening frame. Kristian Svendsen came of the bench to collect 10 points and Tyler Smith added six points of his own to complement his 13 rebounds.

The Eagles will stay in Cincinnati to take on Marygrove College tomorrow in the second game of two AU will play at the Cincinnati Christian Classic. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
