Peyton Siva Signs with the Erie BayHawks

Former Louisville star Peyton Siva has signed with the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League.

The team announced several signings on Thursday.

Here's the announcement from the BayHawks:

Erie, Pennsylvania, Thursday, October 30, 2014 – The Orlando Magic today announced the Development League signings of Seth Curry, Peyton Siva, Kadeem Batts and Drew Crawford. All four players were signed by Orlando on September 29 and waived on October 25 and will join the BayHawks training camp roster. Erie acquired the NBA D-League returning player rights of Curry in a trade with the Santa Cruz Warriors on October 7. Peyton, Batts and Crawford join the team via the affiliate players rule. The rule allows D-League teams to claim the rights of up to four players waived from their parent club.

Curry, (24, 6’2, PG/SG) younger brother of NBA star Stephen Curry, played three years at Duke University and went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft. He signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Golden State Warriors and was later waived and acquired by the Santa Cruz Warriors, scoring 36 points in his first NBA D-League game and helped lead Santa Cruz to the 2014 D-League Finals.

Siva (24, 6’0, PG) was drafted in the second round of the 2013 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He was later assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and averaged 12.9 points per game and 4.6 assists per game is his ten appearances in the D-League. Siva had a storied collegiate career with the University of Louisville, leading the Cardinals to two consecutive final fours that included winning the National Championship in 2013, his senior season. Siva is only the second player to ever win Big East Tournament MVP honors twice (Patrick Ewing, 1984-85).
