Tennessee Assistant Coach Adam Howard Resigns, Beau Braden Promoted

University of Tennessee assistant coach Adam Howard has left Donnie Tyndall's staff due to personal reasons.

Howard, a former Western Kentucky University player, has been on Tyndall's staffs at Morehead State, Southern Miss and Tennessee.

Video Coordinator Beau Braden, a former Morehead State assistant, has been promoted to assistant coach at Tennessee.

Howard is the second Tennessee staffer to resign in the last week.

KnoxNews.com reported this morning that R.J. Rush, the special assistant to the coach, resigned November 10 due to family reasons.

The News Sentinel also learned Monday that R.J. Rush, the special assistant to the head coach, is no longer on Tyndall's staff. He submitted his resignation citing "family reasons" on Nov. 10, Satkowiak said. Rush's departure, which came four days before UT lost its season opener to VCU in the Veterans Classic in Annapolis, Md., was not previously announced by UT.

Neither Howard nor Tyndall returned phone calls from the News Sentinel on Monday. Rush could not be contacted.

The staff defections come during a turbulent time for Tyndall and UT.

On Nov. 6, Southern Miss, the program Tyndall coached from April 2012-14, announced it is cooperating with the NCAA's review of potential violations in its men's basketball program. Multiple media outlets have reported the alleged violations stem from how non-scholarship athletes paid for tuition and living expenses, along with potential academic improprieties. Members of the NCAA enforcement staff reportedly interviewed Tyndall in Knoxville last week.
