Berea College Dismantles Boyce College

Berea College 111
Boyce College 54

Final from Berea, Kentucky

Game recap by Berea:

With a flick of the wrist from the free-throw line, Jalen Simmons' first part of a one-and-one gave the Berea College Mountaineers an even 100 points in their game with Boyce College. BC won 111-54 in an absolutely dominate performance, as five players scored double digits.

The Mountaineers led the Bulldogs in every statistical category except fouls committed and turnovers. The numbers that jumped off the stat page was the shooting percentages that Blue Crew demonstrated. At half-time with a lead of 58-25, the Mountaineers had shot an astonishing 78% from the field and were perfect behind the 3-point line; ending the game shoot 64.7%

A 33 point lead might make some teams relax, but Coach John Hemenway had the Mountaineers focused and hungry for more in the second stanza. There were thunderous dunks by Bilal Young, brilliant passing from Anthony Myrks and Seth Beckham as they combined for 11 assists, and blocked shots from Ethan Harris and Young. Hemenway continued to employ his own version of the "platoon system" as every player but one received double digit minutes of playing time.

Offensively, Aaron Ponder led the way with 20 points going 8-9 from the field and 4-5 from behind the arc. Richard Parker tallied 17 points including a perfect 5-5 from long distance. Dominique Garmon added 15 points going 7-8 from the floor. Myrks chipped in with 13 points, while London Moore recorded 10 points. Ethan Harris and Garmon led the way on the boards, collecting six misses each.

BC will look to maintain their momentum on Tuesday when they host Bryan College at 7:00 pm at the Seabury Center.
