Georgetown College Knocks Off NCAA DII School Central State

Noah Cottrill was two three-point makes shy of tying the single-game record in Georgetown's 87-79 road win over NCAA Division II Central State University. The No. 8 Tigers (11-2) held the Marauders scoreless the final 3:58. Masceo Harmon hit a three to pull CSU within six, 79-73, for the final field goal of the game for the host school. Central State hit six free throws inside the final four minutes, but it was not enough to overcome the Tigers.

Cottrill finished with game-high 25 points, while Deondre McWhorter chipped in with his ninth double-double of the season, 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Gerard Coleman scored 17 points as the only other Tiger in double figures.

Harmon finished with a team-high 22 points and Raheem Lemons added 21 for the Marauders.

Georgetown trailed by as many as seven late in the first half, but Coleman's basket with 1:17 remaining capped a 19-11 run for a one-point lead heading into the break. The Tigers never trailed again.

GC blistered the nets at 60 percent Sunday and were 64.3 from behind the arc.

The Tigers return to action 1 pm Saturday hosting receiving votes Martin Methodist. This will be the final game of the 2014 portion of the men's schedule.
