Murray State's Cameron Payne Named OVC Player of the Week

Murray State sophomore Cameron Payne has been named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week.

In two games last week, Payne averaged 23.0 points, 7.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game.

In two Murray State victories last week Payne averaged 23.0 points, 7.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds/game while hitting 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the field, 50 percent (4-of-8) from 3-point range and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line. To open the week Payne had 22 points in hitting 8-of-11 field goals (and 2-of-2 3-pointers), dished out seven assists and had four steals in 21 minutes against Bethel (Tenn.). He capped the week with 24 points, seven assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block in a 93-81 victory over Western Kentucky. Payne currently ranks second in the OVC in scoring (17.8 points/game) and steals (3.0/game) and fourth in assists (4.9/game).
