No. 1 Kentucky Comes Together After Poythress Injury to Breeze Past North Carolina

Top-ranked Kentucky (11-0) rallied in the wake of Alex Poythress' knee injury to cruise past No. 21 North Carolina 84-70 this afternoon at Rupp Arena.

The Tar Heels cut the Kentucky lead to single digits in the second half but were unable to make a serious run against the powerful Wildcats.

Willie Cauley-Stein and Devin Booker scored 15 points each to lead the way for Kentucky. Aaron Harrison added 14 points. Andrew Harrison chipped in 11 points and 5 assists.

Freshman Tyler Ulis dished out a game-high 8 assists for the Wildcats.

North Carolina (6-3) got 15 points from Brice Johnson. Marcus Paige got hot in the second half to total 14 points. Kennedy Meeks contributed 10 points.

The Tar Heels shot 27-for-60 (45%) from the field and out-rebounded Kentucky 31-24 in the game, but still lost by 14 points.

The official attendance for the game was 24,406, which ranks as the ninth largest all time for Kentucky.

The Wildcats have a week off before returning to action next Saturday against UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic in Chicago.
