(2) Campbellsville 107 (17) Philander Smith 102  F/2OT

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Campbellsville University and Philander Smith College needed two overtime periods late Friday night to decide a winner between two NAIA Top 17 teams. The No. 2 Tigers came back from being down 16 points in the first half and shocked the No. 17 Panthers, 107-102.

D'Von Campbell filled up the stat sheet with a career-high 33 points. The senior from Arlington, Texas also dished out nine assists while only turning the ball over once in 49:48 of play. He sat out for only one possession in the first half, playing in front of his mother and brother for the first time all year.

"I didn't think it was possible to be so mad at a team and so proud of a team in the same night in the same game," said CU head coach Keith Adkins. "But that is exactly the emotions I felt at halftime and when that game was over. Overall it was a great comeback win and showed how good we can be when we play."

Campbell was the hero for the Tigers late in the second half, hitting a 3-pointer from the left wing with time expiring in regulation. CU and Philander Smith were tied at 82 going into the first overtime period.

With 3:47 left on the clock in the first overtime, Elliott Young gave the Tigers a 87-86 lead with his second 3-pointer, but Philander Smith came answered, going up 88-87.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It was deja vu all over again, but this time Campbellsville men's basketball saw its own 22 point lead diminished by the visiting team, John Brown University (Ark.), in the second half. The Golden Eagles were able to take a brief lead, but the No. 2 Tigers held on late and hit timely free throws to escape Philander Smith College's Mims Gymnasium unscathed, 75-67.

Campbellsville went into halftime leading 49-30 but John Brown went on a 14-2 run to open the second period. The Golden Eagles were eventually able to take their first lead, 63-62, on three free throws by DJ Feiti.

D'Von Campbell answered for the second-straight game when his team needed a boost and knocked down a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession to put CU back up, 65-63, with 4:31 left.

John Brown knotted the game at 65 but Campbell used a sweet ally-oop pass to Damontre Harris who finished with a two-handed flush. CU took a 67-65 lead with 3:27 left and was able to make enough free throws down the stretch to hold on.
