For whatever reason, Trinity, which is widely regarded as a top three team in Kentucky high school basketball, was handed a 4-seed for this tournament. That means Trinity and Ballard are inexplicably on a collision course to play each other in the semifinals.

The seeding is a result of the "SETH Power Rankings", a system devised by Jefferson County Public Schools director of athletics Jerry Wyman.

The same thing happened last year when No. 1 Ballard was given a lower seed and was forced to play Trinity in the semifinals, while Bullitt East was given the LIT's top seed.
