Alice Lloyd Opens 2015 With Conference Wins Over Carlow and Point Park

The Alice Lloyd Eagles opened 2015 with two conference wins over the weekend. The Eagles knocked off Carlow on Saturday and Point Park on Sunday.

Alice Lloyd 76 Carlow 68

The Alice Lloyd Eagles overcame a halftime deficit to pull out the win. In the opening stanza, Eagle Mason Pack kept the hosts ahead by tossing in 9 first half points. However, Carlow closed the half on a 9-0 run to take a 32-31 lead into the locker room. In the second half, the Eagles exploded out of the gate to jump ahead by 15 (56-41). The visitors refused to quit and went on a 15-4 run to slice the deficit to just 4 (60-56). Fortunately for ALC, sparked by the play of freshman Deondre Warren and free throws from Dakota Hall, the Eagles were able to right the ship and extend their lead to earn the nice victory.

For the victors (5-10; 2-0 KIAC) Tyler Rogers led the way with 14 points. The junior also registered 12 big rebounds and 3 blocks. Hall played a solid game as well as he pumped in 10 points. Warren added 10 points.

On the night, the Eagles shot 42.9% from the field compared to CU’S 45%. They also hit 5-16 from downtown (31.3%) compared to the Celtics 6-17 (35.3%). They also drained 29-46 (63% from the charity stripe compared to Carlows 14-18 (77%).

For Carlow (1-10; 0-3 KIAC), Jacob St. George led all scorers with 15.

The Alice Lloyd Eagles overcame a halftime deficit for the second consecutive game to pull out the win. In the opening stanza, Eagle Austin Crisp kept the hosts close by tossing in 8 first half points, while Trevor Combs came off the bench to bag two timely bombs from long range. However, PPU managed to take a 32-29 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Eagles slowly pulled ahead as they did a good job of controlling the pace. Sparked by dunks from Tyler Rogers and Trevor Tiller, and solid team defense, they were able to keep the visitors at bay to earn the big victory.

For the victors (6-10; 3-0 KIAC), Crisp led the way with 17 points and added 6 rebounds. Rogers slammed in 14 points and a team high 7 rebounds. Tiller, while playing in foul trouble, still tossed in 14 points.

On the night, the Eagles shot 44.8% from the field compared to PPU’s 32.9%. They hit 3-21 from downtown compared to the Pioneers 7-26. They also drained 9-12 (75%) from the charity stripe compared to Point Park’s 10-21 (47.6%).

The Pioneer’s (8-6; 0-2 KIAC), T.J. Lanier led his club with 16.
