Bowling Green Bandits Set to Battle No. 1 Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks Tonight

The second-ranked Bowling Green Bandits (10-0), under the direction of new head coach Kevin Keathley, will have an opportunity to knock of the No. 1 Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks (15-0) tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app on mobile devices.

Keathley and Mavericks' head coach Steve Tucker worked on the same coaching staff 15 years ago at Lee's College in Jackson, Kentucky before the school ended collegiate athletics.

The coaches have squared off against each other two times prior to tonight with Keathley holding a 2-0 record over Tucker. The most recent game between the coaches was during the 2007-2008 season when Keathley's East Kentucky Miners defeated the Rio Grande Silverados 119-116 in the Continental Basketball Association.

One coach will lose an impressive ABA winning streak in tonight's game. Tucker has won an almost unbelievable 75 consecutive games in the league. Keathley has won 25 straight, dating back to the 2004-05 season when he coached he Kentucky Colonels.

"The Mavericks have won 75 straight games and are defending champions," Keathley said about tonight's game. "For us to have the opportunity to play those guys this early in the season will really be a measuring stick for us. This game will tell us where we stack up and where we need to be come playoff time. It's a big time test and that's a good thing for our guys. A challenge like this will be good for both teams."

Several former Miners' players currently suit up for the Mavericks. Josh Pace, Mike Crain and Jermaine Blackburn played for Keathley from 2007-2009 at East Kentucky.

"This a great opportunity for our team and franchise this Saturday night," Keathley said about tonight's game. "As an expansion franchise we need games like this to reach our goals on and off the court."
