Central Coach Doug Bibby Cited by Police, Suspended from Coaching in LIT

Central pulled off a stunning 69-56 upset over Trinity in the quarterfinals of the Louisville Invitational Tournament last night.

After the game, head coach Doug Bibby was reportedly involved in an altercation with police and eventually ended up being cited and released.

Here are more details from Jason Frakes of USA Today High School Sports:

Central High School boys’ basketball coach Doug Bibby was cited and released by police after an incident at Valley High School on Saturday morning and was suspended from coaching in the Republic Bank Louisville Invitational Tournament.

Jerry Wyman, director of athletics for Jefferson County Public Schools, said he did not witness the altercation but was told “Doug lost his temper … because they wouldn’t let one of his (players) bring food in the gym. A police officer asked him to move on, and Doug got pretty heated and they cited him. At that point we made the decision to not let him coach until we looked into it further.”

Both Bibby and Central athletic director Marlon Miller declined to comment.
