Corey Walden, Jarvis Williams Earn OVC Player of the Week Honors

Eastern Kentucky Corey Walden and Murray State's Jarvis Williams have earned Player of the Week honors from the Ohio Valley Conference.

Walden averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in road wins over UT Martin and SEMO.

Williams led the Racers to wins over Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State. He averaged 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game in the two wins.

Walden averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals/game while shooting 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from the field, 93.8 percent (15-of-16) from the free throw line and 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from 3-point range in a pair of Eastern Kentucky road victories. During the week the point guard scored 33 percent of his team's points and turned the ball over only three times in 78 minutes of action. He opened the week with 21 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in a win over UT Martin; in that game the senior hit 8-of-11 (72.7%) field goals and was 5-of-6 (83.3%) at the free throw line. Two days later he scored 23 points, hitting 3-of-5 (60%) 3-pointers and 10-of-10 free throws in a win at Southeast Missouri; he also added five rebounds, a steal and assist in the win. Walden currently ranks first in the OVC in steals (2.8/game), second in scoring (18.4 points/game), third in minutes played (33.9/game), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9), seventh in field goal percentage (56.2%), eighth in free throw percentage (78.2%) and ninth in assists (3.5/game). It marks the third time this season he has been named OVC Player of the Week.

Williams averaged 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks/game while hitting 60 percent (12-of-20) from the field and 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from the free throw line in a pair of Murray State road victories. He recorded his fifth double-double of the season at Jacksonville State on Sunday, scoring 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in front of a national television audience; Williams hit 8-of-11 (72.7%) field goals and 9-of-10 (90%) free throws in the victory. He opened the week with 16 points and nine rebounds in a victory over Tennessee Tech. Williams currently ranks third in the OVC in rebounding (7.9/game), fourth in scoring (16.0 points/game), fifth in field goal percentage (59.5%) and 10th in blocked shots (1.0/game).
